Goodbye Ty

Adrian Peterson, Tyrese Ruffin, Joey Joseph PattersonThis week we said goodbye to Tyrese. Ty was my great-nephew, my sister’s grandson, my niece’s son. He was on this earth only a short while. Yet his presence made a difference. His life made a difference.

We mourn the loss of this child. He was 2 years old.

I have come to understand something about children. I believe that they are here to teach us something, and not the other way around. Ty has taught us the meaning of love through his big sloppy wet kisses, about passion as was his for fun through his playfulness, about joie de vivre through his love of all foods eaten with gusto.

To all of us who have lost children, we will always question as to why. We will always turn around to hear their possible familiar sound, or their smell, or their face in the crowd for days, weeks, and years to come. Our children are with us always. For they are our greatest love; our greatest joy; our greatest source of sorrow.

Goodbye Ty. Have a super neat journey, Ty. We wish you safe travels.
